Boston Post Cane Recipient

Eleanor Robinson Wood

The lovely gold-headed cane was presented on October 18, 2009 during a reception at the East Baldwin Congregational Church which followed the Homecoming Sunday morning worship service.

Eleanor (Robinson) Wood was born in Sebago and has lived in Baldwin since she and Harrison “Hap” Wood were married on Thanksgiving day, November 24, 1938.  They were blessed with two children, Janice and Paul; three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Attending for the special occasion were many present and former members of the church.  All enjoyed reminiscing with Eleanor, hearing the many stories of her life, particularly about the famous raccoon.  She remains an active lady with a lively sense of humor, still making her famous Dutch apple pies with real whipped cream which are enjoyed at the bean suppers!
